Workshop v Seminar

So why do I call it a workshop rather than a seminar? I think about a workshop as an  experiential learning event where new ideas are presented and immediately tested and in some cases applied. That is what we have.
Its not an event where people come, sit listen and take notes and go home with a workbook trying to remember what was said. Not at all, but they have already applied the things real time as they are presented to the group, finding opportunities, doing market research, learning how is buying and who is not. If you think you understand your market before you come to the workshop. You will have an entirely new prospective when you leave, and a new business paradigm to work with.

I have a question regarding the WOSB Workshop in. How much of this workshop will be focused on getting the WOSB certification? As a certified WBE, I have already gotten third-party WOSB certification through WBENC and our accountant is in the process of uploading all the necessary financial and legal docs to the secure repository. I’ve worked my way through FAR regs and have steadily built a prime contractor database. What I really need is a focused session on getting direct business – including help with procurement officer relationship building and strategies for finding RFPs, RFI’s BPAs, etc before they go on FedBizopps, bulletin boards at NIH and DOD, etc. Simply put, officially I’m set up to get the biz, now need some help with how. With that in mind is this seminar the right fit for me, or should I wait for a workshop that is focused on small businesses that already have their certifications? Thanks!

Jan, Thanks for asking the question. The only people invited to this workshop are people who have already been through registration. Yes we do spend some time in the morning going over the proper way to register, because if there is a problem propriety could mean the difference between getting the work and not getting it. That being said, most of the session is devoted to researching your market, your opportunities, your competition, the buyers, their agencies and learning how to approach them, the procurement cycle and other insights that you will need to move your business to the next level. It is people like you that this workshop can benefit the most. DIL
